Modeling and Evaluation of the Thermohydraulic Performance of Compact Recuperative Heat Exchangers in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Waste Heat to Power Conversion Systems

چکیده

Compact recuperative heat exchangers are critical components in supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) waste to power conversion systems. To investigate their thermohydraulic performance, a model based on the segmental design and ?-NTU method has been developed. Four different types of exchanger have considered: printed circuit with straight channels (PCHE-SC); zigzag (PCHE-ZC); microtube (MTHE); separator sheets (MTHE-SS). The performance for fluid mass flow rates, temperatures, lengths was investigated terms Nusselt number, transfer coefficient, friction factor, pressure drop, rate, entropy generation augmentation number. Results show that these parameters significantly impact compact optimal design. For same operating conditions equal PCHE-ZC MTHE-SS can smaller size than PCHE-SC MTHE. number also demonstrates improved compactness arise from sheets, making them suitable demanding high temperature applications such as sCO2

Analytical Entropy Analysis of Recuperative Heat Exchangers

The analytical solutions for the temperature variation of two streams in parallel flow, counter flow and cross-flow heat exchangers and related entropy generation due to heat exchange between the streams are presented. The analysis of limiting cases for the relative entropy generation is performed, and corresponding analytical expressions are given. The obtained results may be included in a mor...

Measurement and Modeling of Acridine Solubility in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

Supercritical carbon dioxide has gained increasing attention in food and pharmaceutical processing owing to the fact that it is environmentally inexpensive, not flammable, essentially non-toxic, and it has a convenient critical point. Also, it has been attracting much attention in many fields, such as extraction of sensitive materials and pharmaceutical processing and polymerization processes. ...

Waste Heat to Power Systems

Waste heat to power (WHP) is the process of capturing heat discarded by an existing industrial process and using that heat to generate power (see Figure 1). Energyintensive industrial processes—such as those occurring at refineries, steel mills, glass furnaces, and cement kilns—all release hot exhaust gases and waste streams that can be harnessed with wellestablished technologies to generate el...

Hydraulic Network Modeling to Analyze Stream Flow Effectiveness on Heat Transfer Performance of Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers

In this article, stream flow effectivness is based on hydraulic network studied in the shell-side of a shell and tube heat exchange as a case study. For an appropriate heat exchangers rating design to meet a specified duty, it's better to consider each stream flow separately. Using the hydraulic network principals, a set of the correlations for calculating different stream flow rates in the cro...
